Penzel Construction completed a $2.2 million renovation to the pavilion building at Isle of Capri’s Lady Luck Casino in Caruthersville, Missouri in 2009. The original builder in 1995, Penzel was brought back to Lady Luck after Isle of Capri acquired the property from Aztar Corporation in 2007.
Lady Luck Casino is a 21,000-square-foot riverboat casino located in Caruthersville. The riverboat itself, named City of Caruthersville, is located on the Mississippi River and is connected to the pavilion by a skywalk, which serves as an entry point for customers. The building houses a restaurant with banquet facilities, specialty food stations, a casual “grill & go” bar, as well as a large, local tavern and screened back porch.
Penzel worked with the design team at Kuhlmann Design Group to locate and purchase specialty items such as aged copper panels for above custom fireplaces. Penzel was able to locate a supplier familiar with the copper materials who customized their product to make the panels required for above the fireplace. Discovering this supplier has led to a relationship that allows Penzel to provide the materials desired by the interior designers and ultimately achieves the effect and look as requested by the owner.
