A Life Well-Lived
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Gene Penzel on November 20, 2018, former beloved president and owner of Penzel Construction Co., Inc. Born in Jackson, Missouri on January 10, 1934 to Carl L. and Mettie Penzel, Gene would go on to live a full and meaningful life with a focus on service to others.

Cape Girardeau Fire Station No. 4 Ready To Serve
Penzel Construction is proud to announce the completion of the brand new Fire Station No. 4 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. A dedication ceremony was held on December 1, 2017 for the $3.4 million fire station, located in the Laurel Grove neighborhood, serves the northwest quadrant of the City of Cape Girardeau and was built to replace a smaller fire station that was constructed more than 40 years ago.

Penzel Chosen to Build Third Facility for Liberty Utilities
Penzel Construction is currently working in Girard, Illinois on a new office and warehouse project for Liberty Utilities. Liberty is a regulated water, wastewater, natural gas, electric, and propane/air utility company providing local utility management, service, and support to small and mid-sized communities across the United States. This is the third project trusted to Penzel by Liberty Utilities.

Nearly every day, we hear from people who have been watching the progress on the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex. This is natural as it’s a high-profile project—not just in size and scope. The 121,000-square-foot, world-class facility features two indoor soccer fields, six regulation basketball courts that convert into 12 volleyball courts, a concessions area, meeting rooms, an office, and a variety of other amenities.

Cape SportsPlex Construction Update
Penzel Construction is making steady progress on the new Cape Girardeau Sportsplex. The colored exterior panels are complete and the building has been made weather-tight in anticipation of winter. Basketball and volleyball sports equipment has arrived and the wood flooring will soon be installed.

The Cape Girardeau City Council moved forward recently with plans to build a new fire station by unanimously selecting Penzel Construction Co., Inc. as their design/build contractor. The new $3 million Fire Station No. 4 will be built on the southwest corner of Lexington and Flad Avenues in the Laurel Grove neighborhood. It will replace a smaller fire station built more than 40 years ago.

Penzel Construction congratulates David Swain on being named President of the Liberty Utilities New Hampshire Operations. David steps down as President of the MidStates Division, where he served Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa, and was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the natural gas distribution system for approximately 85,000 customers. He has been in the utility business for more than 35 years.
