Sikeston Public Safety Complex
Project Scope: New public safety facility
Owner: City of Sikeston, Missouri
Location: 201 S. Kingshighway, Sikeston, Missouri
Project Delivery: Plan/Spec
This new 35,000-square-foot, two-story-plus-basement public safety complex solved enormous space problems for the city’s police department. The facility includes public safety offices, layered security, including secure holding areas for 10 men and five women, evidence rooms, E-911 call center and the local emergency operations center. Unlike the old facility, the new $4.9 million complex meets seismic codes, has an extensive fire sprinkler system, and includes backup generators which can power the entire facility in the event of a power outage.
Two years prior, Penzel Construction completed the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities building, located adjacent to the Department of Public Safety complex.
